Journal XV - done!

writing textually active
Hello all!

I am still working diligently to catch up on my massive backlog of journaling; almost there! So this is why this volume came so quickly after the last. Filled this one up in a month, catching up on previous months! Phew!

Volume 15 under the cut. :-)

Journal! )

If anyone has any questions for how I do things, so to speak, let me have 'em! Also, if anyone would like my moon names chart or my 'tidbits' schedule list, let me know and I can email it the files over!

Journal XIV - done!

All righty! So. I am HORRIBLY behind in my journaling. I mean, months. This is the longest I have ever let it go. But I just finished a volume while I'm catching up. Timeline-wise, it ends in July. But I finished it up today!

Lots of photos/notes underneath the cut!

So here we go - another finished volume! Volume XIII is done.

This was a jam-packed/important one. My grandmother died during the last six weeks, etc. Lots going on!

Anyway, let's get on with it!

Lots and lots of pics below! )

Nothing personal, guys, really! I just wanted to clean out a little bit, and I felt I had to be harsh with myself.

If you can still read this entry here, you are still on my Friends list. :)

Finished journal - Volume XII

I finished another journal! :-D

It was a good one! This type of journal/notebook is my FAVORITE EVER. I'm worried Barnes and Noble will stop making them. I have two volumes done in this kind of notebook already and luckily I have another one waiting to go and I got two more for my birthday last week!

So, on to the photos!

writing captured memories journal
Posted at [info]embodiment

Hello all!

My name is Sarah, and I'm about a month away from turning 24 years old. I live in a Chicago suburb, and hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Film from Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. I'm (perpetually) single, an Aquarius, and I like long walks on the beach... LOL ;-)

I have so many interests, they're hard to list! Film and photography are my top two for sure. I love nature, sculpting, spiritualism, music (country is my favorite, and I also enjoy top 40 kind of stuff), the metaphysical arts, baking, tarot, family, friends, memories, journaling, writing, being online, television and creating in general.

I've been on LJ since May 2001, when I was in 8th grade! As for paper journaling, I was never able to keep one up for long; I had tried all throughout my life. Then one of my friends, Becki, encouraged me to try again while I was at college in late January 2009. And it just clicked! I have been journaling almost daily ever since! I am currently on volume XII and I plan to journal for the rest of my life! I love it!

It has kind of evolved into a project for me. That is, I hope to leave this behind for others to read; I have that intention as I write. I'd love to read old diaries from family members, and I hope my descendants feel the same about reading mine!

As for my style - I guess I'm just kind of normal. Nothing schmancy, really. Mainly text, but I'm also obsessed with paste-ins from my daily life - receipts, ticket stubs, pen tests, letters, cards, you name it. I also write out lyrics and quotations and things like that. Overall, I have come to prefer large notebooks with sturdy covers. My favorites are from Barnes and Noble - their 8.5"x11" fun plastic-covered notebooks. (This is one I have waiting for me: here)

Speaking of a journaling stash, I have lots of journals waiting to be used! I hoard journals! LOL I'm a very picky journaler though. The lines have to be exactly the right width apart, and I have to write with lines. They also have to be of a proper size. I have journaled in a smaller format, and have some smaller blank ones waiting, but overall I prefer having a lot of space for paste-ins without having to trim too much.

I have tons of other supplies as well. Drawing/painting are not my best nor my favorite mediums, but I have lots of paints and markers and crayons and every school supply you could think of. I loooove them. I have Gesso, paper, glitter, all of that as well. My adhesive of choice is rubber cement and my pen of choice is the Pilot G2 in black, 0.7 size. I have a ton of other Pilot G2 colors as well. I also adore Paper Mate Flairs, and have a multipack. I also keep a 10-pack of thin Crayola markers handy too. I use those for "special" things or a bit of color. I seem to be uptight about writing in black, and want to try to break that a little bit, and write with some more color.

My primary journal includes a diary of daily events, and my paste-ins and such. Most everything goes into that one, but I keep a few others as well. I just finished a book called "All About Me" - a book of questions to fill in. (Find it here.) I also keep the following books (and am always up for suggestions!):

- a book called "One Line a Day: a 5-Year Memory Book" in which you write a line or two per day for five years, contained in the same book (find it here)
- a journal for poetry
- a journal for "scenes" in which I write out scenes, plots, fantasies, characters and ideas for fiction writing
- an art journal for scribblings, paintings, etc.
- a dream journal
- a movie log where I write down each movie I watch, the date on which it was watched, whether it's the first time I saw it, where I saw it and how many stars out of 5 I give it
- a bucket list notebook for things I'd like to do during my lifetime
- a notebook to record restaurants I eat at, all the way down to the McDonald's on the corner, including: name, location, date, whether I've eaten there before, who I ate with, what I ate, my bill, comments and stars out of 5
- a notebook logging all of the books I finish, including title, author, date finished, date published, genre, comments and stars out of 5

I also try to keep a daily list of what I call "tidbits." I have weekly, monthly and yearly ones as well. I started this a couple of months ago because I love information, lol. I don't kick myself if I miss a day; it happens when it happens. I've been pretty good about it so far and hope to continue! To see what the heck I am talking about, click this first cut!

Volumes I and III

Hunger Games Katniss portrait
So I was organizing my journal-sharing posts today (into one master links list for reference: http://sarahrose.livejournal.com/1691052.html) and I realized that I never did posts for journals I and III!

They're not from that long ago (I only started journaling in early 2009) but it was still fun to take that stroll down memory lane and grab a few photos. Reading through these, I feel like I was such a kid just two years ago! lol I'll probably say the same in five years about my journals now.

Two journals filled eons ago... )
